BLT Hot Dogs

Hot diggity dog, y'all! These mouthwatering dogs are perfect for Memorial Day Weekend! Sear hot dogs and cradle them in toasted buns, then top them off with a slaw made with tomato, bacon & shredded cabbage tossed in a light, creamy dressing with celery seed. 

20 min active; 25 min total; makes 4 dogs

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 cups tomato
  • 4 hot dogs
  • hot dog buns
  • 1/2 cup red onion
  • 1/2 c mayo
  • 1 Tbsp celery seeds
  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • salt & pepper

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. PREHEAT OVEN, COOK BACON & PREP TOMATO

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Heat an ovenproof sauté pan over med
  • Add bacon and cook 4-6 min per side, until crispy
  • Chop tomatoes
  • Remove bacon from pan and set aside on paper towel, reserving bacon grease in pan

 

2. COOK HOT DOGS

Alternate method: hot dogs can be cooked on the grill!

  • Heat bacon grease in the same pan over med
  • Pat hot dogs dry with paper towel, add to hot pan and brown 2-3 min per side, then transfer to oven for 5-8 min, until cooked through
  • Warm buns in oven


3. MAKE SLAW

  • Crumble bacon
  • In a med bowl, whisk red onion, mayo & celery seeds
  • Add cabbage, bacon, tomatoes, and salt & pepper to taste, then mix to incorporate

 

4. PLATE & ENJOY!

  • Serve hot dogs on toasted buns topped with BLT slaw
