This week’s wine pairings from Hop City are brought to you by Wine Manage Kimmie Curtis. Enjoy the perfect glass with your meals this week!
Herb Pork Chops
Pinot Noir or Gamay Noir? How about both. 2014 Maison Bellene – Bellenos Cuvée Rouge. A blend of Gamay Noir from the granite soils of Beaujolais and Pinot Noir from the clay and limestone soils of the Cote d’Or. Dark cherry fruit and spice – light, fresh, fruity. No need to complicate it!
Thai Peanut Chicken
My meal choice for the week! Taking home a bottle of the 2016 Paul D Gruner - Austria. Gruner is my go to wine when eating Thai food. If you like a well balanced Suav Blanc, Gruner is for you. Golden straw color with delightfully perfume and bright spice aromas, crisp fruit and a full yet dry finish. Very clean and fresh sunny-sipper.
$14.99 (1 LT)
Captain Vic’s Fish & Chips
2016 Bernier Chardonnay, Loire – France. Bernier Chard has been a go-to of mine of over five years. I love when people say I don’t like Chardonnay, but I like this! Made in a fresh un-oaked style with fruit flavors that echo pears and green apples and finishes with a hint of minerality.
One Eared Stag’s Chicken Milanese
2016 Inama Vin Soave Classic. Inama is the family, Soave Classico is the region in Italy and the grape is Garganega. Organically produced with no oak. Soave is a friendly summer wine that I love to pair with light dishes, salads and fish. Great alternative to Chardonnay. Light yellow color, elegant nose of wild flowers, chamomile, elder flower and iris. Pleasant on the palate with hints of sweet almond on the finish.
Turkey Meatballs & Harissa Sauce
2016 Brusco Sangiovese Toscano. Certified organic with a natural approach to the winemaking. Left to rest 3 moths in cement vats, lightly filtered with a vibrant texture, lean with tart cherry fruits… so, so fresh!
