4 Atlanta Pop-Up Restaurants You Need To Know About

photo credit: Jay Wennington via Unsplash

We're big fans of the pop-up concept here at G&G - there's something about the spontaneity of it that keeps us wanting more! We've rounded up 4 of our favorite pop-up dining experiences in Atlanta so that you can try 'em out too. (Make sure to get there early!)

1. Eat Me Speak Me at SOS Tiki Bar

Who: Chef Jarrett Stieber

What: A menu reflecting local seasonality, changing weekly

When: Wednesdays through Saturdays, 6 to 11 p.m.

Where: SOS Tiki Bar in Decatur at 340 Church St.

Why: Not only does Eat Me Speak Me happen in a bar with maybe the most fun ambiance out there (just Google photos of SOS Tiki Bar - and yes, there are drinks served lit on fire), but it's also headed by the insanely creative Chef Jarrett Stieber. You'll see some of Jarrett's fun & funky recipes on the G&G menu from time to time!

2. Anju at Revelator

Who: Chef James Murphy

What: Korean

When: Thursdays, 6 to 10 p.m., Fridays & Saturdays, 6 to 11 p.m.

Where: Revelator Coffee (formerly Octane) in Grant Park at 437 Memorial Drive SE

Why: 'Anju' translates to 'food consumed with alcohol' in Korean, and that sure sounds like the start to a good time! Chef James's Anju launched just yesterday in the newly-transformed Revelator (previously Octane Coffee), and Chef already knows what he's doing--Murphy was formerly of Gaja in East Atlanta Village, as well as Kimball House in Decatur.

3. Terminus City BBQ at ASW Distillery

Who: Chef Kevin Gillespie

What: BBQ

When: Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. 'til the BBQ runs out

Where: ASW Distillery in Buckhead at 199 Armour Drive NE, Suite C

Why: This is BBQ is made by none other than former Top Chef contestant & master chef himself, Kevin Gillespie. You've enjoyed his 30-minute-or-less recipes on our menu before, and now you can enjoy his slow-roasted barbecue for a completely different experience. (Though your taste buds will be just as delighted!)

4. Talat Market at Gato

Who: Chef Parnass Savang

What: Thai, designed for sharing family-style

When: Fridays through Sundays, 6 to 10 p.m.

Where: Gato in Candler Park at 1660 McLendon Avenue NE

Why: Chef Parnass & Talat Market received the honor of being voted Atlanta's Best Pop-Up in Atlanta Magazine this past year, and there's a good reason for this. His Thai dishes are lighter than what you'd find at your typical Thai restaurant & Parnass's talent shines through in each and every one of his dishes.
