Caramelized Onion Dip Recipe

 

 

Football season is here, and you know what that means... gameday gatherings! Our caramelized onion dip recipe is not only sure to be a hit—it's also incredibly easy! Whip this dip up in just 20 minutes.

 

 

INGREDIENTS:

13 oz onion

½ tsp sugar

2 pitas

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp paprika

10 oz carrots

1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

2 Tbsp chives

¼ cup Doux South Chow Chow

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup mayonnaise

½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

olive oil

salt & pepper

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

1. PREPARE ONION

  • Preheat oven to 425°F
  • Peel & finely chop onion
  • Heat 2 Tbsp olive oil in a sauté pan or skillet over med
  • Add onion & sugar and sauté until the onion caramelizes, turning golden brown, about 15-20 min, stirring occasionally

 

2. MAKE PITA CRISPS

  • Cut each pita into 8 triangles then split each triangle into two halves
  • Place triangles in a single layer on a baking sheet
  • Rub pita triangles with 2 Tbsp olive oil & sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika & salt
  • Bake for 7-10 min, or until crisp & lightly browned
  • Slice carrots into sticks

 

3. PREP DIP

  • Once caramelized, add apple cider vinegar to onions to    deglaze pan, scraping up browned bits, then season with salt to taste & remove from pan to cool
  • Finely mince chives
  • Finely chop Doux South Chow Chow
  • In a bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce & half of chives
  • Add caramelized onions to bowl, stir to combine & season with salt & pepper to taste

 

4. PLATE & ENJOY!

  • Top dip with chow chow & remaining chives, serving with pita crisps & carrot sticks for dipping
