How to Reuse Coffee Grounds

Who knew used coffee ground had so many uses? Try these ideas before throwing your next batch of cofee grounds into the trash can!

BODY SCRUB

You'll need:

1 cup coffee grounds
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup melted coconut oil

Make sure to set used coffee grounds out on a paper towel overnight before mixing into your scrub so that they're completely dry.

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks. Use the scrub on your body before using your regular body wash, as there will be some residue from the coconut oil that you'll want to wash off.

FERTILIZER

Use coffee grounds in your garden instead of tossing them in the trash can! Mix 1 part used coffee grounds with 3 parts shredded leaves. Once composted, you have a slightly acidic fertilizer mix that is perfect for acid-loving plants.

Some acid-loving plants you might find around Georgia are blueberry bushes, azaleas, rhododendrons, gardenias, camellias, hydrangeas, daffodils, magnolia trees & marigolds--they'll love this fertilizer! You can lightly sprinkle it on the topsoil around these plants, or you can mix small amounts into the top few inches of the soil.

MARINADE

Add used coffee grounds to your meat marinade and it will act as a tenderizer, plus it will add a little flavor! Re-brew the used grounds and marinate meat in the weakened coffee overnight.

You can also mix the dried grounds in with your favorite dry rub. When you sear the meat the grounds will cook on and become part of the crispy crust.
