Hummingbird's Wine Pairings for the Week of 6/22

Wine pairings for this week's meal kits are brought to you by Kingslea, owner of Hummingbird Wine Bar & Market in Fayetteville. Hummingbird is one of our partner pick up locations–stop in to pick up your G&G order from their shop on Mondays and get a wine recommendation to go with your meal kits while you're there. Cheers!

Steak Fajitas

Pair with Rio Madre Rioja: balance of juicy red fruit, subtle oak, and earthy tannins — brings out the richness of meat.

Chicken Caprese
Pair with Vin de Days Blanc: from Willamette Valley, OR, this is what we call a "kitchen sink" wine. There are several different white wine varieties but overall this will pair well with the lightness of the Chicken Caprese dish.

Szechuan Salmon & Chili Crisp
Pair with Osmote Off-Dry Riesling: don't sleep on Finger Lakes, NY. I would pair an off-dry (semi-sweet) riesling with spicy food any day!!

Avocado Spring Rolls
Pair with La Frontiere Sauvignon Blanc: Willamette Valley, Oregon made by Loire-minded producers. This organic Sauvignon Blanc is approachable. It will blend well with the subtle flavors of the spring rolls that don't need an overpowering wine.

Smoked Salt Chicken
Pair with Hendry Rosé: a wine shop favorite. This dry rosé is a zinfandel rosé made by a small family-owned Napa producer. Rosé is the perfect pairing with most foods but especially chicken. The salinity of this dish would also go well with an Albariño.

Mediterranean Stuffed Tomatoes
Pair with Areti Assyrtiko: this Greek white wine is sure to keep you coming back for more. We love pairing regional food with regional wine- it is what it is all about!

Chicken Croquettes
Pair with Delta Pinot Noir: not too earthy, not too fruity. Delta's California Pinot Noir is a great in between option of a common California.

Shrimp Fajitas
Pair with Sand Boy Albariño: marries citrus-forward freshness with textural richness, stone-fruit charm, and a hint of coastal salinity.

Szechuan Chicken & Chili Crisp
Osmote Off-Dry Riesling: don't sleep on Finger Lakes, NY. I would pair an off-dry (semi-sweet) riesling with spicy food any day!!

Italian Sausage
Pair with Ercole Barbera: a friendly, everyday Italian red—bright, juicy, and food-focused, yet with enough depth to please casual and serious drinkers alike
