Meet Ranger Robby

I first met Robby Astrove, lovingly known to Atlanta as Ranger Robby, at the opening day of East Atlanta Village Farmers Market years ago. I was an intern at the market and side by side, we planted a tree in the community garden at East Atlanta Village Farmers Market to commemorate another great year of local food. I quickly came to learn that he is the fruit tree whisperer.

Robby wears many hats, including a Park Ranger hat at Arabia Mountain in Dekalb County and co-manager hat at Dekalb County's first and only fruit tree orchard. He conducts educational hikes to teach folks about the beautiful nature we are surrounded by in Atlanta. 

Robby has received many accolades for the work he does in the community: The Environmental Change Award, The Inspiration Awad and most recnetly, The LongLeaf Award, to name a few. See why I call him the fruit tree whisperer? And he plays the drums to boot!

Now you can enjoy the fruits of his labor (I just couldn't help myself on that pun!). Robby has foraged some beautiful pears from front yards in our city. It's the peak of pear season, so get them while you can!
