Strawberry Scones

Strawberry Scones Recipe from G&G's Chef Robin Pridgen

This recipe created by G&G's very own Chef Robin Pridgen is the perfect way to celebrate local strawberry season. Order strawberries from Miles Berry Farm here in our grocery section.


Ingredients:
  • 2 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 8 Tbsp butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup strawberies
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp milk

Instructions:


1. Prep Scones

  • Preheat oven to 400°F
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Remove stem end and dice strawberries into 1/2" pieces
  • Grate butter using a box grater
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  • Add grated butter to flour mixture and toss to combine
  • Gently fold strawberries and white chocolate chips into flour
  • Stir in buttermilk just until dough comes together and there are no dry bits


2. Bake Scones & Make Drizzle

  • Using a large spoon or measuring cup, drop scone batter into 6–8 mounds on prepared baking sheet
  • Transfer to oven and bake until tops are lightly browned, 18–20 min
  • In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, vanilla and milk 


3. Garnish & Gather

  • Drizzle scones with glaze and enjoy!
