Attack of the Killer Tomato Fest Recap

The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Festival this weekend made for a Sunday Funday, for sure. We tasted as many dishes & drinks as we could fit into our stomachs, and the festival was well worth braving the heat!

One Eared Stag made us our first drink of the afternoon; Crop cucumber vodka mixed with tomato water, cold brew jasmine tea, lemon and thyme oil. Have you ever tried a more refreshing drink? To make it even more impressive, the tomatoes were from our friends at Woodland Gardens!

La Tavola Trattoria’s tomato salad may have a simple name, but the flavor was anything but. Heirloom tomatoes mixed with cucumber, red torpedo onion, patio basil and local feta, all topped with lambrusco vinaigrette made for a most delicious bite.

Ladybird surprised us with this creation: a macaroon sandwich with tomato sorbet and mayo ice cream. Are you as skeptical of the mayo ice cream as we were? We are happy to say that it was absolutely delicious! The ice cream sandwich was refreshing, in fact.

The list of amazing dishes & drinks could continue forever, so we will stop here. If you weren’t able to attend this year, you have another shot next summer! If you’re lucky, the band will be half as fun as it was this year, and the food will be half as delicious. Thank you to everyone who bought an AKTF + G&G meal kit package!
