Best 7 G&G Recipes of 2013
Thursday, January 16, 2014
2013 will always hold a special place for us at G&G. It is the year G&G went from concept to reality. In the 6 months that we delivered our meal kits during 2013, we had some amazing meals! We’ve racked our brains (and our taste buds) to compile a list of the top 7 recipes of 2013. Without further adieu…
#7 Low Country Boil with Shrimp Andouille Sausage and Bitter Greens & Melon Salad by Chef Amy Ponzoli
Why we loved it: We learned how to milk a corn cob!
#6 Chicken Breast with Arugula Pecan Pesto over Lemon Orzo with Goat Cheese & Roasted Winter Squash by Chef Amy Ponzoli
Why we loved it: The ability to make a great pesto is a gift that keeps on giving. We have cubes of this pesto in our refrigerator as we speak, ready to be popped out at a moments notice.
#5 Polenta and Mushroom Paprikash with Garlicky Greens
Why we loved it: Aside from the fact that paprikash is a great word, this recipe finally allowed us to master one of those hard-to-imitate ethnic dinners you usually can only enjoy at a restaurant.
#4 Pork Chops Simmered in Pecan Milk with Mushrooms & Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Why we loved it: This recipe empowered us to make our own nut milk! Who knew it could be so easy, or so delicious!? Plus, we’re in Georgia – we love pecans!
#3 Chipotle Roasted Squash, Kale & Carmelized Onion Flatbread
Why we loved it: Well, first of all – it’s a flatbread pizza! And second, we found a new delicious use for naan bread! It made a light, crisp crust packed with flavor.
#2 Coffee Rubbed Pork Loin with Mashed Sweet Potato & Roasted Broccoli
Why we loved it: We’ve had a love affair going with both coffee and pork for as long as we can remember. They each hold a special place in our hearts (and our bellies). So when those two worlds collided in this savory pork tenderloin, it was magic!
And the #1 recipe of 2013 is… Drum roll please…
#1 Fish Tacos with Kale & Cabbage Slaw and Field Pea Salad
Why we loved it: This was my first experience with a G&G Meal Kit. One bite of the taco with the sweet and tangy slaw and I had found my calling. If any food could be currency, it would be this taco!
