Homemade Spiced Apple Butter Recipe

Forget pumpkin spice... we’re talking apple spice, now! (Just kidding, we’ll always love you, pumpkin spice.) This is our favorite Spiced Apple Butter recipe, and it goes great on biscuits or croissants! It also makes for a perfect hostess gift—just pour it into a small mason jar, add a ribbon, and you’re all set!

10 min active; 45 min total; makes about 1 pint

 

You'll need:

2 lb apples

¼ cup apple cider

½ tsp vanilla extract

2 Tbsp maple syrup

2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp allspice

food processor or blender

 

 

Instructions:

  • Peel, core & dice apples
  • In a pot, combine apples, apple cider, vanilla extract, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, cinnamon & allspice
  • Bring to a boil then reduce to low and simmer for 35—45 min
  • In a food processor or blender, blend apple mixture until smooth
  • You can keep your apple butter for 2—3 weeks in the fridge, or store it in the freezer for later!
