Who doesn't love a good sandwich? Pair just the right filling and just the right bread and it doesn’t get any finer. But dip that sandwich in batter then lightly pan fry it? Heaven.

Meet your new favorite sandwich - the monte cristo!

I’m always happy to see an email in my inbox from one of our G&G chefs because it means new recipes have arrived (just like Christmas morning). So when Chef Amy Ponzoli popped up in my email, I dove right in to recipe exploration. This time I landed on her savory version of a monte cristo with a saute of mushrooms, greens & garlic between slices of bread from H&F Bread Co. with gouda and goat cheese from Caly Road Creamery.

But the very best part? It’s the perfect start to Georgia’s blueberry season. You’ll take the first ripe blueberries from Red Earth Organic Farms & make a blueberry lemon thyme jam to serve alongside your monte cristo.

Emily and I, along with a team of food-loving recipe testers, test each recipe that comes our way. It’s a tough job... but someone has to do it. This test was a unanimous ‘yes!’ and we are so glad it's finally blueberry seasons so we can share it with you! We can’t wait for you to try it!
