How to Zest Without a Zester

Our chefs agree that lemon zest is a great way to add a burst of flavor to any dish! That’s why you’ll see it in so many of our meals. But what if you don’t have a zester or a grater at home? No problem! Follow these 2 simple steps and zest your heart out:

#1 PEEL

Use a veggie peeler to peel off the skin of the lemon. Try to avoid the white pith and just get the yellow peel. (Don’t have a veggie peeler either? Just use a sharp knife… carefully!)

#2 MINCE

Lay the peel on your cutting board. Cut it into thin strips lengthwise. Then slice those strips into itty bitty cubes by cutting in the opposite direction. Continue to run your chef’s knife through it until minced. It won’t be as fine as grated zest, but you won’t taste the difference!
