7 Questions for New G&G Chef Steve D'Angelo
Tuesday, April 19, 2016
Born in New Orleans, Steve D’Angelo knew from an early age he was destined to connect with people through food and make it his lifelong passion. With over 25 years of experience in the culinary industry, Chef D’Angelo’s New Orleans roots steeped him in world renowned cuisine and hospitality. Chef Steve was tapped to become a chef at an early age, with tutelage under Chef Emeril Lagasse (BAM!).
Chef D'Angelo, co-founder of Chefter, is excited to share his passionate vision of professional culinary guidance, available to everyone and its exciting potential impact on how we interact with food. With this passion, working with G&G was a natural fit! Get to know this cajun chef a little better:
G&G: If you weren’t a chef, what would you be?
A very poorly paid musician or the CEO of my own company!
G&G: What is your cooking style and what is it most influenced by?
Creole food is where my heart is at and from cooking with Mawmaw to Emeril Lagasse, it has always been powered by food of love.
G&G: What made you want to be a G&G chef?
I see passion in their mission and caring in what they do! That gets you excited and makes you want to be apart of something!
G&G: Tell us about Chefter.
We are so excited to bring this App to Atlanta First! We want to reconnect people with food by giving them access to the answer! Many of us have forgotten how to speak the language of food. Chefter is like a chef on your shoulder, explaining to you what you need to know, when and where you need the answer.
G&G: What is your favorite tool in the kitchen?
This may be cheating a bit but, my brain, I love the ability use my experience and see into the future and anticipate what is about to happen and how to best address it. They say it takes 10,000 hours of experience to master something and it all gets stored on my main frame. That is another cool thing about Chefter, for chefs, they can use all that collected information and offer their ability to people who are looking for the answer. Our chefs work on their own schedule, kinda like an Uber Driver, but from home, on their computer. It's a little like a "live" video game for the chefs.
G&G: If you could I’ve our home chefs one piece of advice, what would it be?
Cook with love, cook better with Chefter!
G&G: If you were a fruit or veggie what would you be and why?
Has onion been taken? You know, it goes in almost every cuisine, smells great when they are cooking, has all those layers and when they are sweet, they will never make you cry! Or, maybe a strawberry!?
