Celebrate Farmer Champion Week!

The folks over at Georgia Organics do exactly as their name implies: promote organic local food and empower the people who grow it. They give grants to farmers during times of need via The Farmer Fund, educate and engage children through Farm to School programs, award the restaurants and local food companies that support Georgia growers the most through the Farmer Champion program, and so much more. Georgia’s farm network wouldn’t be what it is today without Georgia Organics.

Here at Garnish & Gather, we are immensely proud to support Georgia Organics–and that we are Farmer Champions ourselves! This distinction isn’t as easy to earn as you may think; it requires a true commitment to supporting local.

This year Georgia Organics is hosting the second annual Farmer Champion Week from Friday 9/16 to Friday 9/23, and it’s a week that you won’t want to miss! Restaurants that have earned a Farmer Champion badge were invited to create seasonal dishes that are only available during this time frame. Each dish highlights local peppers and okra, two veggies that thrive here in Georgia. See a full list of participating restaurants here, and start making your reservations!  

As part of Farmer Champion Week, we will have three different meal kits available from Farmer Champion restaurants–each kit highlighting local peppers and okra, just like the in-restaurant dishes. But, there’s a twist! We’re donating 20% of the proceeds for each of these meal kits back to Georgia Organics! When you order these meal kits you’ll not only be eating delicious chef-created meals, you’ll also be supporting an organization that promotes access to local organic food.

Bistro Off Broad’s Glazed Pork Chops with honey, sweet peppers, okra & peanuts over thyme rice 

Farm Burger’s Jalapeño Burger with cheddar, seared okra & agrodolce peppers

The Expat’s Seared Salmon with okra caponata, Castelvetrano olives & capers
