Meet Chef Eddie Barrett of Ford Fry's BeetleCat! If you see him next time you stop in BeetleCat, say hi! And if you haven't been to BeetleCat yet, this is your sign to go get your oyster fix. It's one of Ford Fry's quintessential restaurants–and there's a reason it's been an Inman Park staple since opening in 2015.

Chef Eddie wrote the Brown Butter Trout meal kit that's on our menu right now. It's perfect for a Valentine's Day evening in. We asked Chef Eddie a few questions about his cooking style–keep reading to learn more.

How did you get started in the food world?

I got my start in the food world in Connecticut before moving to Atlanta and currently have been at Beetlecat for 7 months.

How would you describe your culinary style?

I would describe my culinary style as ingredient focused, more of the Nouvelle cuisine style.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?

The best meal I ever had was at Da Lenga Pizza in New Haven, CT - specifically The Honey Pot Pizza.

What’s your best piece of advice for home cooks?

Buy quality ingredients and don't manipulate them too much.

What is your favorite thing about Atlanta’s local food scene?

My favorite thing about Atlanta’s food scene is the focus on locally grown ingredients and the overall support everyone shows each other.

If you were a fruit or veggie, what would you be and why?

I'd be a mushroom as I could thrive in many different environments.
